Aura Pottery

Meet our Pets at Aura Pottery!

The dogs, cats, chaos, drama, and furry personalities that run life at Aura.

Fifi flaunts a massive bone that was gifted to her by friends.

Fifi spends most of her day slowly wandering around the farm asking for belly rubs, rolling onto her back dramatically, wriggling like a mouse, and occasionally pretending to be dead for attention.

I have genuinely considered putting a “pet at your own risk” warning on her collar because once people start petting her, they usually cannot stop.

Then comes Bosch.

Bosch poses alongside a large citrus loot from the orchard!

A very handsome, extremely sharp-featured doberman with ears so perfectly alert they almost look professionally designed.

Bosch came to us at one year old and was originally named Bhishma and trained entirely in Tamil. Over time, we gently rebranded him into Bosch, so he matched the naming energy of Fifi and Tofu, Fifi’s brother, who passed away in 2019. Now older and significantly softer with age, Bosch spends most of his time sleeping under the main workshop table.

He also strongly dislikes his son, Bono.

Bono was born after we discovered, far too late, that Bosch and Fifi had been having what can only be described as a secret love affair. A few months later, Fifi presented us with ten entirely black puppies belonging to an apparently legitimate breed called ‘Doberdors’.

Bono inherited both the best and worst traits of his parents. He has Fifi’s calmness but Bosch’s tendency toward dramatic emotional reactions.

Bono insists on assisting at the hammocks with a little nudge.

And then there is Mylo, our caramel brown doberman puppy who arrived in June 2025 at only five weeks old and very quickly became the child I defend against all criticism.

He is beautiful, he is naughty, and he is deeply committed to diving into every pond at Aura before immediately rolling himself in sand and launching his muddy body lovingly onto unsuspecting guests.

I personally believe this is exactly the kind of chaotic behaviour that adds authenticity to life on a farm, although I receive daily complaints from the rest of the household

Mylo frequents the ponds at Aura, his eternal joy.

And finally, the cats.

Monkey, our six-year-old black cat, was originally a house cat before discovering the outdoors and becoming completely feral in spirit. She now spends her days hunting, roaming the farmland, and controlling the rodent population with frightening efficiency.

Chicklet, our rescued Bombay cat, arrived unexpectedly through a family friend who believed Aura was the safest possible place for a kitten. This is true, and we couldn’t be more happy to be her forever home!

Monkey mews at the kitchen through the green court; Chicklet with her offspring lurks in the bushes.

If you ever visit us, just know that alongside pottery, yoga and studio life, you will almost certainly leave with a favourite animal too.
