Aura Pottery April 2020 Newsletter

As we all adjust to the new reality in respect to the COVID-19 virus, our thoughts are with people who are being impacted and those who are risking it to save the impact. Health and well being is of paramount importance to us currently and hence, we have made our program decisions accordingly.

Aura Pottery Retreats Update

Considering the uncertainty of the situation, we have decided to cancel our pottery retreats until July. We will not be hosting any summer sessions. The retreats will resume from the month of August and bookings will remain open for the same.

Spring at Aura

Nature is blossoming happy at Aura currently and giving us the spirit to keep being creative in this down time. Bali Pots

This design of the pot originated during a visit to a studio in Bali, Indonesia and hence they were named Bali pots. This is a wheel thrown ceramic bud vase, with a coiled top tapering towards the mouth. The idea was to avoid working with the groggy clay in Bali and thus half of the pot is hand built instead of finishing it on the wheel. However, this is where the beauty of the design lies and our Bali pots are a perfect fit for any corner in the house!

Priyanka Bhatt’s retreat experience

A lawyer by profession, Priyanka visited us from Delhi for a week in order to swap her bustling city lifestyle with creativity in our studio. Making the best use of our studio premises, she experimented with all the hand building techniques as well as spent her time learning the basics of throwing on the wheel. It was a treat hosting her as she filled our studio with her charming smile.

Aura Organic kitchen Garden

Trying to be innovative and making the most of this quarantine, we have been working hard to turn our garden into a flourishing oasis full of food. Following the principles of permaculture, we have designed our edible raised beds to get higher yields and realized that this was a creative design process all together. Enjoy some of the images from our new spring garden, blooming with fresh veggies that we pluck almost every day!
