Aura Pottery

Aura Pottery India – September Newsletter 2022

Life at Aura is lush and how! Every nook and cranny of Aura has life buzzing in it – you could sit in a spot for hours and simply be mesmerized by life all around you, busy doing its thing.

We live by the Swedish proverb, ‘Shared joy is double joy’ and that is why we are the happiest when we get to share our beautiful farm and studio with lovers of pottery! We have been fortunate to have had some amazing people come stay with us at the Potters Villa to explore pottery and set out on their own clay journey.

Let’s zoom in to see the highlights of the month of August!

A peek into the studio

We believe we say this nearly every month, but really, August has been a month abuzz with aplenty. We’ve been on a creative spree; from designing new products, tweaking older designs to carving and glazing, it has been hard to keep track of all the new work being produced.

Our most cheerful retreat guests, Leela and Kriti, first timers with clay, got the opportunity to explore and experiment with so many different techniques and the wheel that they soon found their rhythm with the medium and became fixtures in the studio for the entire 4 weeks (Leela) and 2 weeks (Kriti) that they were with us . The best part, we have realized, about being a teaching studio is the satisfaction of watching people fall in love with the art form!

If this sounds like the kind of environment you would want to work in, then we have great news!  We have an opening for a studio collaborator at Aura for a minimum period commitment of 12 months. Come on over and find your mojo here, with us! Click here for more details; we would love to hear from you.

From the kiln

Our firing results have been rather interesting this month, with a whole range of work done by studio collaborators.

We made and fired our signature hemp dinner set for the Potters Villa, so all of you who are planning to join us for a Pottery retreat will get to savor a home cooked, plant based organic cuisine in these dishes.

We glazed some product prototypes as well and were quite happy with most of them. We will continue to experiment with more textures and glaze combinations till we get all that we dare to dream and imagine.

Potters Villa

After two years of renovation, ideation, the pandemic, lots of love, patience and vision…..this is what our charming Potters Villa looks like! Pottery Retreat guests will call this villa their home during their residency at Aura Pottery. All the rooms at the villa open into a welcoming, central covered courtyard where guests enjoy their meals, get to unwind and hang with each other. This warm place transforms into a cozy, colorful corner where people from all walks of life come together to share their stories and discuss their pottery escapades post studio hours.

Each room has an ensuite bathroom and a picture window that opens onto a cute, little private patio, where you can enjoy your morning coffee or simply put your feet up and soak in all the beauty that is Aura!
